Many of us have received flowers as gifts and some of us grow our own for home decorating purposes; and we loved how they make charming accents to our homes. How we wished that these floral beauties can last longer and be preserved for future decorating purposes. There's a simple way to do that - dry the flowers.
If you have your own garden or a pot of flowers, pick the blossoms before they fully open. Same should be chosen if you have a bouquet you recently received. Prepare a drying mixture consisting of 3 parts of borax and 10 parts cornmeal placed in a box with a lid. Carefully place the flowers onto the mixture and make sure to cover the entire flower with the drying mixture and let it stay for 3 to 10 days.

Remove the flowers from the mixture carefully and dust off the excess particles. Spray onto the flowers a mist of hair spray to prevent the petals from falling off, to to keep them safe from insects, and to prevent air moisture to be absorbed. Store the dried flowers in a wide box with cover lined with paper.
